Sending traffic to an unvetted network is one of the fastest ways an affiliate loses weeks of work: broken postbacks, delayed payouts, or an offer that gets pulled mid-campaign. Before you commit real spend or content to a new network, run through this checklist.
Before anything else, confirm the network supports the tracking setup you actually need — server-to-server postbacks, sub-ID passthrough, and a real-time dashboard you can independently verify against your own click data. If a network can't explain their tracking stack clearly, treat that as a hard stop, not a minor inconvenience.
Run a small test batch first. Compare your own click logs against what the network reports before scaling spend or traffic against any offer.
Offers that disappear without notice, or that change payout terms retroactively, are a red flag about how the network treats partners generally — not just about that one offer. Ask how far in advance they notify affiliates of payout changes or offer pauses, and whether in-progress conversions are honored at the old rate.
Send a specific, slightly technical question before you sign anything: ask about postback macros, or how they handle a specific sub-ID scenario. A network that takes days to answer a pre-sales question will be far slower once you actually have a tracking issue mid-campaign.
If you can find case studies, testimonials or public results from other affiliates running the same offer through the same network, that's a stronger signal than anything in the network's own marketing. Ask the network directly to connect you with a current partner as a reference — a network confident in its own operation usually says yes.
The best affiliate managers treat "prove it" requests as normal, not as an inconvenience. Hesitation on basic tracking or payout questions is the clearest signal you'll get before you've sent a single click.
This is close to the exact checklist our own affiliate program is built to pass: real-time postback tracking, weekly payout cycles, and a dedicated manager who answers technical questions directly.
